The Commissioner of Greater Visakhapatnam Municipal Corporation (GVMC) Ketan Garg on Monday (December 29, 2025) instructed the Zonal Commissioners through a video conference to commence operations in the newly reorganised 10 zonal offices with effect from January 1, 2026.
The Commissioner said that the State government has issued orders approving the reorganisation of zones within the GVMC limits. Accordingly, the existing eight zones have been restructured into 10 zones, and necessary arrangements have been made with respect to zonal offices, officers, and staff.
He directed that from January 1, 2026, all 10 zonal offices should function independently and that all related files and records must be transferred to the respective zonal offices in a systematic manner without any misplacement. He further instructed that officers and staff should discharge their duties from their respective zonal offices henceforth.
The Commissioner also instructed Zonal Commissioners and officials to ensure that details of wards and secretariats falling under each zonal office were clearly communicated to the public. Ward Secretaries were directed to create awareness among citizens, secretariat-wise, regarding the newly formed zones.
