The joint committee of Arumuganeri All Part Traders Association and Public Welfare Organisation petitioned at the District Collectorate, seeking the merger of 10 wards of Arumuganeri town panchayat which fall under Kayalpattinam south revenue village with Arumuganeri revenue village.

The petition was submitted at the weekly grievance redress meeting chaired by Thoothukudi District Revenue Officer A. Ravichandran

The petition submitted by the joint committee stated that 10 wards in Arumuganeri town panchayat fall under the Kayalpattinam south revenue village, and this caused hardship to residents.

“For the past 35 years, we have been demanding that these wards be merged with Arumuganeri revenue village. Although the district administration has already sent recommendations to the State government, no decision has been taken so far.”

The joint committee members urged the District Collector to take swift action on the issue.
