Defence Minister Guido Crosetto said Tuesday that there are no disagreements within the government over legislation that needs to be presented by the end of the year to make it possible for Italy to continue to send miliary aid to Ukraine.

Deputy Premier and Transport Minister Matteo Salvini, the leader of the right-wing League party, has expressed doubts about continuing support for Kyiv, saying it could prolong the war sparked by Russia's invasion.

"There has never been disagreement over the Ukraine decree," Crosetto, a senior member of Premier Giorgia Meloni's Brothers of Italy (FdI) party, said during a visit to Italian troops stationed in Novo Selo, Bulgaria.

"You will see the content of the decree on December 29: like the Gospel says 'you will know them by their fruit'," he added, denying there negotiations within the government over the legislation.

"The measure was wrapped up weeks ago." He also warned of what will be in store if Italy is involved in a possible international peacekeeping mission in Gaza.
