The 10-day SARAS (Sale of Articles of Rural Artisans Society) exhibition is under way at the Codissia Trade Fair Complex in Coimbatore city, showcasing products crafted by self-help groups (SHGs) from Tamil Nadu and other States.

The event, organised by the Tamil Nadu Corporation for Development of Women, was inaugurated by Coimbatore MP Ganapathi P. Rajkumar and District Collector Pavankumar G. Giriyappanavar on Tuesday.

The exhibition features 172 stalls, including 10 from States such as Andhra Pradesh, Rajasthan, Karnataka, Maharashtra, Bihar, Puducherry, and Kerala; 113 stalls from women groups across other districts in Tamil Nadu; 10 stalls from other departments; and 39 stalls from women self-help groups of Coimbatore district.

Products on display include handicrafts, textiles, food items, personal care and household products, and regional specialties from Tamil Nadu. Handicrafts feature wooden items, Thanjavur dolls, glass paintings, clay items, and palm leaf products.

Speaking at the event, Mr. Giriyappanavar said the government, through the Tamil Nadu Corporation for Development of Women, supports SHGs in achieving economic development. The exhibition offers members an opportunity to showcase products, exchange ideas, and introduce innovative items. He added that training sessions on marketing and related topics will be conducted during the exhibition to help women enhance their business skills.
