The Congress on Sunday (December 21, 2025) accused the Narendra Modi government of “bulldozing” the SHANTI Bill, which allows private participation in India’s nuclear sector and eases liability norms for operators, through Parliament, alleging it was done “not only for TRUMP but also for ADANI.”

Congress general secretary (communications) Jairam Ramesh cited a media report on X claiming that the Adani Group plans to enter the nuclear energy sector after private firms are allowed into the field.

Nuclear Bill ‘bulldozed’ in Parliament to help PM Modi restore ‘SHANTI’ with ‘once good friend’: Congress

On Thursday (December 18), Parliament cleared the nuclear energy Bill, with the Rajya Sabha giving its nod to legislation that opens the tightly controlled civil nuclear sector to private participation.

The Congress used political wordplay to attack the Centre for favouring U.S. interests and large corporations. “SHANTI was bulldozed through in Parliament not only for TRUMP (The Reactor Use Management Programme) but also for ADANI (Accelerated Damaging Adhiniyam for Nuclear India),” Mr. Ramesh said.
