Savannah Guthrie is going to kick off 2026 by focusing on her health.

The longtime "Today" show host, 53, revealed she will be taking a brief hiatus from the NBC morning talk show in the new year to undergo vocal surgery, Guthrie announced during the show's Dec. 19 broadcast.

"Some of you have noticed that my voice has been very scratchy and started to crack a little bit," Guthrie said. "Well, I have found out what it is. I have vocal nodules, and now I also have a polyp."

Vocal cord lesions are growths that may form on one or both vocal cords and are typically the result of a person overusing or misusing their voice, according to the Cleveland Clinic.
