I have no idea what my personal style signifier is. I suppose it’s my earrings. I always wear a sort of Italian type that hang and clip in at the back. I’ve probably got three or four sets – pearl, aquamarine – that I get from local stores in Venice and Parma. I like them because they’re slightly old-fashioned. My mum used to wear similar ones; so did my grandmother. They’re practical. Every time I wear any other type of earrings, they seem to fall out.

The last thing I bought and loved was an Oliver Bonas T-shirt. It has three fishes on it with “catch of the day” in French and I liked it so much I went and bought another two – they’re comfortable and loose. In the kitchen, I wear Uniqlo trousers – they call them jogger bottoms but they’re not really; they’re just easy trousers and they’re, what, 30 quid? So I’ve bought three of them. I tend to do that: I’ll buy one thing, really like it, then just wear it all the time.

These days, I really love Scotland. It’s not the place that means the most to me in the world – you know, I love Italy – but when you go to Scotland and you’re up in those mountains, or you go to Skye and there’s no one about, or you’re on a beach and it’s absolutely desolate, it’s just amazing. I like the fact that there are few people. It can be really cold, and I like the cold weather. I love the Highlands and long walks. It’s great – I try to go at least four or five times a year.
