Emergency responders are on scene after authorities said a small plane crashed in western North Carolina on Thursday morning.
According to local airport officials and the Federal Aviation Administration, a Cessna C550 crashed about 10:15 a.m. local time while landing at Statesville Regional Airport.
The airport is in Iredell County, about 40 miles north of Charlotte.
It was not immediately known how many people were on board but at least one fatality has been reported, a North Carolina State Highway Patrol official confirmed to USA TODAY.
