Slain director Rob Reiner’s son Nick Reiner appears in a newly released CCTV footage, casually making a purchase at a Los Angeles-area gas station moments before police arrested him on suspicion of killing his parents.
The footage obtained by ABC 7 and NBC Los Angeles shows Nick Reiner, 32, in a hat, jeans and a black and green top, wearing a red backpack and buying a drink at a convenience store early Monday morning.
At least four police vehicles with lights flashing approach him just minutes after he pays for his drink and crosses the street. He can be seen putting his hands up.
LAPD Deputy Chief Alan Hamilton told reporters at a Tuesday press conference that Nick Reiner was taken into custody “without incident.” He was formally charged with two counts of first-degree murder.
Nick Reiner’s arrest happened a day after his parents, Rob and Michele Reiner, were found stabbed inside their Los Angeles-area home at around 3:30 p.m. Sunday. According to reports by People, the couple’s daughter, Romy, 27, discovered her parents’ bodies.
