“Late Night” host Stephen Colbert on Tuesday lit into White House chief of staff Susie Wiles after Vanity Fair revealed the extent her work is linked to President Donald Trump’s online presence.
In the second of two bombshell articles profiling Trump’s inner circle, the magazine said that Wiles had a “freestanding video monitor” showing a live feed of Trump’s Truth Social posts next to a fireplace in her West Wing corner office.
Colbert couldn’t resist making light of the setup.
“So, there’s fire and a constant stream of Trump’s social media posts? Are you sure that’s your office, ’cause it sounds like Hell to me!” he quipped.
Colbert also reminded his audience about how Trump had politicized the Justice Department in “unprecedented ways” over the past 11 months, and yet Wiles told Vanity Fair in an August interview that she didn’t think the president was on a “retribution tour.”
