Is it possible for a sugar-free Oreo to taste as good as the classic treat we all know and love?
After four years in the lab, Mondelēz is launching its eagerly-anticipated Zero Sugar Oreo in January and truth be told, I didn't have my hopes up for much. Sugar-free products tend to taste ... well ... sugar-free. But four years couldn't be for nothing, right?
Opening the single-cookie package, I was met with the wave of nostalgia. It looks like a regular Oreo. It smells like a regular Oreo. I still wasn't convinced it could taste like one though.
As my teeth sunk into the chocolate cookie, through the sweet creme, I was met with surprise. The Zero Sugar Oreo tastes almost identical to a traditional Oreo cookie. If anything, the sugar-free option is a little less sweet than a regular Oreo, but otherwise, it holds up. Dare I say I may actually prefer the sugar-free option?
