Michelle Obama has revealed she had plans to see Rob and Michele Reiner the same day that the director and his wife were found dead in their California home.

The former first lady, 61, sat down on "Jimmy Kimmel Live!" on Monday, Dec. 15, and noted she and former President Barack Obama knew the acclaimed filmmaker and his wife "for many, many years."

"We were supposed to be seeing them that night, last night," she shared. "And we got the news. Let me just say this: Unlike some people, Rob and Michele Reiner are some of the most decent, courageous people you ever want to know."

The Los Angeles Police Department said Dec. 15 that an initial investigation determined that Nick Reiner, Rob and Michele Reiner's 32-year-old son, "was responsible" for their deaths. He has been booked for murder, and the case will be presented to the Los Angeles County District Attorney's Office for filing consideration on Tuesday, Dec. 16.
