Two separate incidents of chain snatching were reported in the Salem district on Monday.
In the first incident, two men on a motorcycle reportedly snatched a two-sovereign gold chain from S. Geetha (48), a resident of Arthanari Street in Saminathapuram. The incident happened while she was on her way to a grocery shop in the locality. The Pallapatti police have registered a case.
Similarly, two bike-borne persons snatched a 3.5-sovereign gold chain from S. Poongodi (56), an office assistant at the Hasthampatti zonal office in Salem Corporation. The incident happened while she was waiting for an autorickshaw at Ramakrishna bus stop. The Hasthampatti police registered a case and are on the lookout for the culprits.
