The carcass of a three-year-old leopard was found in a highly decomposed state in Kattabettu forest range near Kotagiri on Tuesday (December 16, 2025).
Officials stated that a postmortem was conducted on the remains of the leopard in the presence of Forest department staff, NGOs, and veterinarians. Though the exact cause of death could not be ascertained, it seemed likely that it was due to natural causes.
Following the completion of the post-mortem, the carcass of the leopard was disposed of as per protocol.
