Dec. 15 (UPI) -- The White House announced Monday a new "Tech Force" to advance AI and other tech projects across the federal government.

The "U.S. Tech Force" will consist of roughly 1,000 engineers and technology experts dedicated to developing artificial intelligence infrastructure and supporting various technology initiatives across the federal bureaucracy.

"We're trying to reshape the workforce to make sure we have the right talent on the right problems," U.S. Office of Personnel Management Director Scott Kupor told CNBC.

It arrived as part of the administration's broader push to modernize federal systems, attract tech and artificial intelligence professionals to public service and strengthen America's competitiveness in the global tech arena.
