Stephen Miller told Sean Hannity on Wednesday that CNN has banned him. (Watch the video below.)President Donald Trump’s Rapid Response 47 team on X account highlighted the gripe of Miller, the White House deputy chief of staff who has vociferously backed the immigration crackdown.“So, this is a completely true story,” Miller said on Hannity’s Fox News show. “So, over the last few days, our brilliant White House communications shop has reached out to CNN, which, of course is running one fake news hit piece after another, and they said, ‘Stephen Miller would like to come on your network to rebut any of these lies.’ And they asked, ‘What show?’ They said, ‘Stephen Miller will do any show from dawn to dusk.’ They said, ‘What topic?’ The White House said, ‘Stephen is available to discuss any topic with any host at any time. As far as you’re concerned, Stephen has no scheduling conflicts at all. He will make himself available from the first hour of air to the last hour of air on any subject.’ And CNN’s response was, ‘We will not take him, period, for any show on any topic.’ That is completely true, Sean.”Asked for comment by Mediaite, CNN appeared to offer an evasive response at first. “Members of the administration are welcome on our air,” CNN said, but didn’t specify whether Miller would be among them. But in a later version on Mediaite, a more direct answer appeared: “Members of the administration, including Stephen Miller, are welcome to come on our air. As a news organization, we make editorial decisions about the stories we cover and when, and that depends on the news priorities of the day. We look forward to having Stephen on again in the future as the news warrants.”If the network had a problem with platforming Miller, many viewers might find that understandable. In the last few days alone, he has used incendiary rhetoric against Somali immigrants, and California Gov. Gavin Newsom (D) called out his “cruelty” amid some disturbing ICE raids that the Democratic state leader detailed.A recent report asserted that 75,000 people arrested in ICE roundups in the first nine months of Trump’s second term had no criminal history, contradicting an administration claim that it was focusing on violent criminals. If CNN is indeed wary of booking Miller, his early October appearance on the network probably didn’t help. Miller and CNN’s Boris Sanchez sparred after the latter asked the White House official if “brown people” were being profiled. The White House attempted to get in the last word on Miller’s accusation.“Stephen Miller has graciously made himself available to appear on any CNN show these last few days to discuss a wide range of topics and to push back on fake news,” communications director Steven Cheung wrote on X. “Yet, CNN is so afraid they declined to have him on, probably because they know he’d run circles around any of their hosts. CNN is actively engaging in partisan politics and acting as the propaganda arm of the Democrat party.”Close
