Microsoft is spending $17.5 billion to develop cloud computing and AI infrastructure in India over the next four years, making its biggest investment commitment in Asia.
The U.S. tech giant’s plan was announced Tuesday after Microsoft CEO Satya Nadella met with Prime Minister Narendra Modi in New Delhi. It builds on the $3 billion investment announced by Microsoft earlier this year.
The company said one of its investment priorities is completing the India South Central cloud region in the city of Hyderabad, which is scheduled to go live in mid-2026. It will be Microsoft’s largest hyperscale region in India, according to a statement released on Tuesday.
