President Xiomara Castro on Tuesday (December 9, 2025) denounced what she called tampering with results in the Honduran general election, and accused U.S. President Donald Trump of interfering in the vote.

The final votes are still being counted after the November 30 election, with Trump-backed conservative candidate Nasry Asfura holding a slim lead.

Second-placed right-wing candidate Salvador Nasralla has also complained about electoral corruption and on Monday described the results as "theft".

Speaking at a rally in the centre of the country, Mr. Castro said people had taken part in the election with "courage and determination."
