The Defence Ministers of India and Russia are set to meet in New Delhi on December 4, during Russian President Vladimir Putin’s state visit to India.
A senior official confirmed that Defence Minister Rajnath Singh will hold talks with his Russian counterpart Andrey Belousov to review ongoing defence cooperation and explore new avenues of partnership.
According to the official, the meeting agenda includes discussions on the timely delivery of the remaining S-400 air defence systems that India has purchased from Russia. India is also likely to examine the possibility of acquiring additional S-400 units, as well as Russia’s next-generation S-500 system, which is capable of intercepting ballistic missiles at ranges up to 600 km and airborne targets up to 400 km.
The Ministers are also expected to discuss cooperation in ship building and jointly developed weapons systems, an area both sides are looking to strengthen further.
