The Bureau of Indian Standards organised a meeting on the revised Indian Standard — IS 398 (Part 2): 2025 — for Aluminium Conductors, Galvanised Steel Reinforced (ACSR), which is a type of electrical conductor used in high voltage power transmission lines, in the city on Tuesday. This revision was prompted by rapid transmission network expansion and increased adoption of higher-capacity ACSR conductors, said S.D. Dayanand, Senior Director and Head, BIS Chennai Branch. S. Sathish Kumar, Deputy Director, MSME, Chennai, also spoke.
