House Speaker Mike Johnson’s fealty to President Donald Trump perhaps isn’t embarrassing enough.
Now he’s giving his critics something else to chew on ― a wince-inducing stab at trying to be cool on Katie Miller’s podcast. (Watch the video below.)
In a preview shared Monday by Miller ― a former Trump administration spokesperson who’s married to White House deputy chief of staff Stephen Miller ― she asked Johnson, “You know who Jelly Roll is?”
Johnson might have gone with a simple affirmative. Instead the Louisiana Republican indignantly said “Do I know” and waved a Hawaiian “shaka,” or “hang loose,” sign with just the thumbs and pinkies extended. (One of his hands, however, had three fingers up.)
“Yes, we have selfies together,” Johnson continued, referring to a photo Johnson took with the rapper-singer and Kid Rock at a UFC event in November 2024.
