MAKKAH: An event marking the launch of World Arabic Language Day celebrations, which was organized by the King Salman Global Academy for Arabic Language and the Muslim World League, has taken place in Makkah.

The event was attended by Dr. Mohammed Al-Issa, the league’s secretary-general; Abdullah Al-Washmi, the academy’s secretary-general; and prominent scholars, delegation heads, and experts in linguistic and cultural affairs.

Al-Issa praised the league’s partnership with the academy, noting its extensive efforts to promote Arabic, the Saudi Press Agency reported on Monday.

He highlighted Saudi Arabia’s commitment to empowering the language through linguistic planning, digital platforms, dictionaries, cultural programs, and initiatives that strengthen linguistic identity across society.

Al-Washmi said the collaboration between the academy and the league during the celebrations of World Arabic Language Day provided a key step in international efforts to serve Arabic.
