Crayons are typically used in arts and crafts, but one New York driver is accused of using the sticks of colored wax for a more mischievous purpose, according to local police.

New York State Police said on Friday, Nov. 21, that troopers conducted a traffic stop on Nov. 20 "for switched plates on a different vehicle." Upon inspecting the vehicle, the troopers "quickly noticed something unusual," the law enforcement agency said in a Facebook post.

On the windshield of the observed vehicle were its "inspection" and "registration," which police said were "not official at all." Upon closer inspection, police stated that the stickers appeared to be hand-drawn, using a combination of pen, marker and crayon.

"As a friendly reminder arts and crafts supplies do not count as valid documentation," police said.

Following the observation, troopers issued the driver multiple tickets and impounded his vehicle.
