CNN’s chief data analyst Harry Enten on Friday revealed that President Donald Trump’s net approval rating is “underwater” by double digits in several recent polls, marking new second-term lows for the president.
“I would say this is probably the worst 10-day period for the president in the polls his entire second term,” Enten said. “The numbers are just atrocious.”
Enten — who has recently highlighted how Trump has taken a hit in the polls due to his handling of the economy and the Epstein files — turned his attention to the president’s net approval ratings (percent who approve minus those who disapprove) ranging between -14 and -26 points in a number of November polls.
“When your best poll has you still 14 points underwater, you know it’s truly bad, and it’s as bad as 26 points underwater,” he said. “We’re talking about an average well, well, well underwater with the deep blue sea swimming with the fishes.”
Enten argued that independents could be “driving these horrific numbers” for Trump as the president’s net approval rating with the group — according to an aggregate of polls — dropped from -4 points in January to -43 points now.
