My personal style signifier is a flat shoe of some sort, or with a tiny heel, in the category that I like to call “doll shoes”. Without fail, I’m always wearing a Mary Jane, a ballet flat or a T-strap. I probably have a pair in every colour. I love Repetto ballet flats – I think those are my favourite – but I have a pair of Chanel T-strap shoes, white with a black cap toe, which were my first big-girl purchase. I searched all over the world for them.
A place that means a lot to me is Vík at the southernmost tip of Iceland, where my family’s from. I grew up in Reykjavík and we would go there every summer. It’s where the black-sand beach is – Reynisfjara. Most of Iceland’s beaches are black sand, but that’s the best-known one because it has these really unique basalt formations. It’s really beautiful.

The last thing I bought and loved were these hoop earrings with little snakes on them. They’re from a cool Icelandic brand called Orrifinn. A lot of my jewellery is from there – I have some rings by them too. I like wearing pieces by Icelandic jewellers because it brings me back home. I didn’t wear much jewellery growing up – as a classical musician I wasn’t really allowed to – but I’m getting more and more into it now.
