The Pamarru police arrested a person on charges of stealing vehicles and seized 45 two-wheelers worth about ₹22.50 lakh from him, said Krishna district Superintendent of Police V. Vidya Sagar Naidu.
The accused has been identified as K. Bhaskar Reddy, the SP told the media on Thursday, adding that a police team led by Gudivada DSP V. Dheeraj Vineel and Pamarru Circle Inspector V. Subhakar, during a vehicle-checking exercise, arrested Bhaskar Reddy, a native of Anantapur district, as he was trying to escape.
During questioning, he confessed to stealing vehicles from temples, function halls, bus and railway stations in Machilipatnam, Vijayawada, Gudivada, Pamarru, Kankipadu and other places, by using duplicate keys.
The accused was earlier arrested in a similar case in 2000 and convicted, Mr. Subhakar said.
