Premier Giorgia Meloni did her duty in seeing President Sergio Mattarella to rule out an institutional clash over a presidential advisor's alleged plotting to stop her getting a second term and the right should stop seeing conspiracies, centre-left opposition Democratic Party (PD) leader Elly Schlein said Wednesday.

"Giorgia Meloni's visit to the Quirinale is a must after yesterday's uncontrolled attack," she said.

"They should stop seeing conspiracies where there are none and focus on the economic condition of this country, using the European Commission's data, which unfortunately shows Italy lags behind in Europe in growth.

"There is a lot to do to restart the economy.

"I know there will be a meeting tomorrow on incentives because after the failure of Transition 5.0, they took away too much money and now they have to find it elsewhere.
