Former two-time legislator from the All India Anna Dravida Munnetra Kazhagam (AIADMK) in Puducherry, A. Baskar, resigned from the party on Wednesday (November 19, 2025).
In a brief statement, Mr. Baskar said he had informed the AIADMK leadership of his inability to continue serving the party at this juncture.
Younger brother of AIADMK Puducherry unit secretary and former legislator A. Anbalagan, Mr. Baskar had represented the Mudaliarpet Assembly constituency in 2011 and 2016. Before becoming a legislator, he served as a councillor in the Pondicherry Municipality. Though the party had fielded him from Mudaliarpet in 2021 elections, he lost to DMK candidate L. Sampath.
