Chief Justice of India (CJI) B.R. Gavai on Wednesday (November 19, 2025) agreed to urgently list on November 21 separate petitions filed by the Kerala Government and the Indian Union Muslim League (IUML) for deferment of the Special Intensive Revision (SIR) of the electoral rolls in the State as the “cumbersome” exercise clashes with the local body elections and lead to a strain on human resources besides resulting in an “administrative impasse”.

The State, represented by advocate C.K. Sasi and the IUML party, represented by advocate Haris Beeran, made an oral mentioning before the CJI for an early hearing.

The SIR process is scheduled from November 4 to December 4.
