During the hearing on Tuesday (February 24, 2026), the Supreme Court ordered the Chief Justice of Calcutta to additionally deploy civil judges for SIR process, if necessary. If further human resources is required, the Calcutta CJ can request his counterparts in Odisha and Jharkhand to provide serving or retired judicial officers for the verification work, the SC said.

The Supreme Court also said the verification of objections and claims would be based on documents listed in the October 27, 2025 EC notification. Aadhaar, Classes 10 admit card and pass certificate would be considered as proof during SIR verification. The apex court also ordered the poll body to to publish the West Bengal voters list on February 28, 2026.
