2023, not long after ChatGPT was released, Twitter cofounder Jack Dorsey realized things needed to change at his fintech Block. So he gathered around 40 of the company’s top executives every week to discuss the future of the business, best known for its widely-used Square credit card readers and Cash App for digital payments. One of those executives was a senior engineer named Dhanji Prasanna, who had led engineering for the Cash App.
“We were trying to figure out where we were going as a company,” Prasanna tells Forbes now. “And I think Jack had this sense that this huge AI revolution was coming. And he was searching for how we were going to reorient Block to be at the forefront of that.”
