The Supreme Court on Tuesday (November 18, 2025) is hearing the bail pleas of Umar Khalid, Sharjeel Imam and others accused in the Northeast Delhi riots of 2020.
In the previous hearing, Senior advocate Sanjeev Luthera appearing for Shadab Ahmad argued that organising or participating in protests are not criminal offence. Mr. Ahmad was arrested on April 6, 2020, and was subsequently charged under UAPA.
