New York Jets cornerback and special teams contributor Kris Boyd is in critical but stable condition after being shot in the abdomen early Sunday morning, according to multiple reports.
A spokeswoman for the New York Police Department told USA TODAY Sports that officers responded to a 911 call at a Midtown Manhattan restaurant around 2 a.m. ET and found a 29-year-old man with a gunshot wound to the abdomen. The NYPD told USA TODAY Sports it would not confirm the identity of the victim, in adherence with department policy, but added that the victim was transported to Bellevue Hospital.
An investigation into the incident is underway.
Said the Jets in a statement: “We are aware of the situation involving Kris Boyd and will have no further comment at this time.”
A seventh-round pick out of Texas in 2019, Boyd is in his seventh year in the NFL.
