The Independent Democratic Front (IDF) led by former Congress district president A.V. Gopinathan struck a formal deal with the Left Democratic Front (LDF) for the local body elections Peringottukurissi panchayat on Thursday.
While the IDF will contest 11 wards, the CPI(M) will contest seven. Mr. Gopinathan will contest in ward 7. Apart from ward 7, IDF will contest wards 1, 2, 6, 8, 9, 10, 12, 13, 15 and 18. The CPI(M) will contest wards 3, 4, 5, 11, 14, 16 and 17.
The Congress said it would field candidates in all wards against the IDF-LDF combine.
