The Sadashiva Nagar police arrested a 23-year-old software engineer for allegedly knocking down a family of three in a suspected hit-and-run case on New BEL Road in Bengaluru.
The accused, identified as Sukrit Keshav Gowda, is a resident of Kodigehalli. He is an employee of a private company at Whitefield.
The incident occurred on October 26. Around 7 p.m., the accused was driving his car when he hit a scooter from behind near M.S. Ramaiah Hospital. The scooter, which was on the right side of the car, was being driven by Vineth A. (33), a businessman from Vidyaranyapura. Vineth was accompanied by his wife Anikita Patel (31) and their young son.
The impact caused the scooter to fall on the road divider, throwing the family on to the road. Sukrit Gowda allegedly fled from the spot without stopping to help, police said.
Passers-by rushed the injured trio to M.S. Ramaiah Hospital where Anikita, who sustained injuries to her left hand, shoulder, and head, and Vineth, who suffered rib injuries, were treated and discharged. Later, Vineeth visited St John’s Hospital at Koramangala complaining of pain.
