If the House doesn’t vote to end the shutdown, last weekend’s flight chaos will look like “tiddlywinks,” Transportation Secretary Sean Duffy said at a Tuesday press conference that referenced the past weekend’s travel chaos, adding, “it’s going to get much worse.”
“If the government doesn't open, if the House doesn't do its job… I'm going to tell you, we are not going to get to Thanksgiving,” Duffy told reporters at Chicago O’Hare airport Tuesday afternoon.
Flight disruptions peaked on Saturday due to 81 air traffic controller staffing alerts, where insufficient personnel forced the FAA to slow flights across the country and led to thousands of flight cancellations and delays.
