Watching "Palm Royale" it's hard not to wonder if Hollywood has been the actors' version of the sunny social club symbolizing wealth and prestige.

In the Apple TV+ series returning for Season 2 on Nov. 12, Kaia Gerber plays manicurist Mitzi, who is "very much a code shifter," the model-actress says. At first, Mitzi appears to be a loyal friend to Maxine (Kristen Wiig) in the late '60s-set soapy dark comedy. But in the Season 1 finale, Maxine learns that Mitzi slept with her husband Douglas (Josh Lucas) and is carrying his child.

"Mitzi comes from a very different background than a lot of the characters in Palm Beach," says Gerber, the 24-year-old child of supermodel Cindy Crawford and businessman Rande Gerber. The West Palm Beach-born Mitzi viewed Palm Beach "as the dream," Gerber says.

But Mitzi is "quickly disillusioned when she realizes that maybe people aren't as happy as she thought rich people would be."

Season 2 for Mitzi is "about finding her independence, finding her voice as a young woman who often has been defined by men, by older men," Gerber continues. "That's a really key theme for Mitzi this season is like, 'Who am I without these men?' And that's something that I was really excited to explore with her because it's not dissimilar to my experience as a young woman and finding my voice and my identity on my own."
