Kaia Gerber is opening up about growing up in the limelight with supermodel mom Cindy Crawford and the scrutiny she’s faced throughout her career.
Speaking with Vogue for a cover story alongside her Shards co-star Homer Gere, Gerber discussed how being in the public eye has affected her body image, why she embraces the “nepo baby” label and how she’s dealt with being called misogynistic names over her dating life.
“We’re clearly in one of those cycles right now where people are very, very, very thin,” the 24-year-old said. “As someone who’s been thin most of my life, I’ve always been compared against my mom. Like, ‘What’s wrong with Kaia?’ I’m so jealous of my mom’s body. I would have loved to be born with boobs and a butt.”
“People have always commented on my body, which is hard because I’m not always ready to comment on my own body,” she said, adding, “I’ve had disordered eating in my life. People are like, ‘You look terrible,’ and it doesn’t exactly make you go, ‘Oh, good. Let me get over this mental illness then!’ Negativity has never saved someone’s life.”
The Saturday Night actress also opened up about how she’s been criticized over the years for her relationships. Gerber has previously been linked to Pete Davidson, Jacob Elordi and Austin Butler. She’s currently dating Thunderbolts* star Lewis Pullman.
