U.S. Treasury yields rose on Monday as investors are optimistic that the historic government shutdown is nearing an end as lawmakers negotiate a deal.

At 6:08 a.m. ET, the 10-year Treasury yield was up 3 basis points to 4.132%, and the 2-year note yield rose 4 basis point to 3.597%. The 30-year bond added 3 basis points to yield 4.731%.

One basis point is equal to 0.01% and yields and prices move in opposite directions.

Investors are keeping a close eye on the government shutdown on Monday as Republican and Democrat lawmakers appeared to get closer to passing a federal funding bill that would end the shutdown which began on October 1.
