The Wall Street Journal on Sunday condemned Donald Trump’s idea of giving Americans a $2,000 dividend from the revenues that have been generated from his controversial tariffs policy.

The newspaper’s conservative editorial board slammed the proposal as nothing more than a “Hail Mary pass” from the president.

Trump “has a big tariff problem,” said the outlet, which has repeatedly slammed his widespread imposition of taxes on products imported from other countries into the United States.

Tariffs are “raising prices” for consumers, are “unpopular” and may even soon be ruled illegal by the Supreme Court, it noted.
