California Gov. Gavin Newsom took his trolling of President Donald Trump right to the door of the Oval Office on Wednesday after the White House unveiled a new sign.

The sign features the words “The Oval Office” in golden script next to an exterior door near the Rose Garden. The text appears to be printed on paper that’s been taped to the wall, possibly as a mock-up to test the look:

Trump has been overseeing an extensive White House makeover that includes adding gold embellishments wherever possible ― including above the door in this image ― and the destruction of the entire East Wing to make way for a massive new ballroom.

Newsom, who has been trolling Trump the same way the president attacks his critics, used his Press Office account on X to give the sign a makeover.

Instead of “THE OVAL OFFICE,” Newsom’s version looks more like a tacky “LIVE LAUGH LOVE” sign from a craft store ― except the word “LOVE” has been replaced with “LOSE” after the Republican Party lost big in this week’s elections in what was widely seen as a rebuke of Trump.
