The new master plan unveiled for Thiruvananthapuram city has unlocked the potential for its development in a big way, paving way to opening up opportunities for IT, infrastructure, hospitality and convention centres, tourism, health, and housing sectors, educational hubs, micro, small and medium enterprises, start-ups etc, Trivandrum Chamber of Commerce and Industry (TCCI) said in a statement here on Wednesday.

Transit-Oriented Development (TOD) has been given relaxations, which will, in the long run, help in the city’s development. K-Smart online platform was a long-awaited demand of all business bodies and the TCCI welcomes this move wholeheartedly. Many important services and documents are available through K-Smart, including approval of building permits.

The latest amendments to the Kerala Municipality Building Rules/ Kerala Panchayat Building Rules (KMBR/KPBR) is a big step in positive direction. Many ambiguities leading to misinterpretation that resulted in enormous delay in processing approvals have been clarified. Congratulating the efforts of the government and the team that worked behind this, the TCCI said this will surely improve the cost of doing business and happiness in doing business to a great extent.
