Critics mocked President Donald Trump on Tuesday for a series of messages he fired off as polls closed and it became clear that Democrats were sweeping nearly every major race, often by wider-than-expected margins.
First, he absolved himself in a message quoting unnamed “pollsters,” while also seemingly throwing Republicans in Congress under the bus over the ongoing shutdown of the federal government.
He wrote on his Truth Social website:
Next, he switched gears and engaged in one of his favorite activities: bragging about TV ratings.
Then, he fired off a pair of messages demanding that Senate Republicans abolish the filibuster, making it easier for the GOP to pass legislation while they still control Congress.
