Nov. 4 (UPI) -- The 2025 College football Playoff will open Dec. 19 and include a Dec. 20 triple-header, the College Football Playoff, ESPN and TNT Sports announced Tuesday.

"We are pleased to work with both ESPN and TNT Sports to deliver these first-round games to fans across the country in premier viewing windows," College Football Playoff executive director Rich Clark said in a news release.

"We also appreciate the collaboration with the NFL in coordinating schedules to best serve fans of both college and professional football. This all reflects the growing reach and excitement surrounding the new Playoff format, and we look forward to showcasing the best of college football on both networks."

The second year of the 12-team playoff will launch with a first-round game at 8 p.m. EST Dec. 19 on ABC and ESPN. The Dec. 20 slate will start with a noon matchup on the same networks. The second games of the triple-header will air at 3:30 and 7:30 p.m., respectively, on TNT, TruTV and HBO Max.
