Malicious actors want your data, and to get it, they want access to your accounts and devices. We’ve seen the release of a massive 183 million credentials data leak that included Gmail passwords, critical security updates for Google Chrome users, and attacks against users resulting in an emergency Windows security update in just the last few days. But not all security updates are urgent in nature; some are the result of planning and rolled out according to a schedule, which doesn’t make them any less important. Take KB5067036, which adds a new Administrator Protection feature for Microsoft Windows 11 users, for example. Here’s everything you need to know and do.

Not all Windows updates are security updates, but even scheduled cumulative updates that add new features to the operating system platform sometimes impact security areas. Take, for example, the entirely optional preview cumulative update KB5067036 for Windows 11 users. While this adds all sorts of things, the most interesting to me is definitely the security-related Administrator Protection feature.
