The Communist Party of India (Marxist) [CPI(M)] ‘s top leadership gathered at the AKG Centre here on Wednesday (October 29, 2025) to prevent a politically awkward boycott of cabinet meeting by Communist Party of India (CPI) ministers upset later in the day, with the government’s signing of the National Education Policy (NEP)-linked PM-SHRI scheme to secure federal funding estimated at ₹1,446 crores for school education, “without consulting” the Left Democratic Front (LDF) or the ministry.

The CPI’s State Secretariat is convening at the M.N. Smarakam to weigh the seemingly fraught political situation.
