Oct. 27 (UPI) -- A man was hospitalized with life-threatening injuries after falling from the upper concourse to the lower bowl at PPG Paints Arena during the first period of Monday night's game between the Pittsburgh Penguins and the St. Louis Blues.
The man fell from the 200-level concourse of the Penguins' home arena minutes after puck drop.
Pittsburgh Public Safety said in a statement that it was alerted by arena security of the fall at 7:15 p.m. EDT.
Pittsburgh EMS paramedics transported the injured, unidentified man to a local hospital. Medical officials said he sustained life-threatening injuries.
A spectator in the suite level was injured by the man as he fell to the 100 level and declined transport to the hospital.
