Oct. 27 (UPI) -- A new preview for the Netflix series Last Samurai Standing introduces the contestants who will participate in Koduku, a life-and-death game, for the chance to win a "massive cash prize."
The trailer released Monday shows the fighters wielding swords as they attempt to steal one another's wooden tags, which are worn as necklaces.
The show is adapted from Shogo Imamura's book Ikusagami, which has already served as the inspiration for a manga series.
"I wrote Ikusagami with the intention of making a historical novel that could be enjoyed worldwide," Imamura previously said.
The series takes place in 19th century Japan, and Junichi Okada stars as the main character Shujiro Saga.
