“Late Show” host Stephen Colbert said President Donald Trump’s long-running campaign to win a Nobel Peace Prize may have finally paid off... sort of.
“Donald Trump has finally won the peace prize,” Colbert said, then quickly added: “Or a peace prize.”
Trump was given the Richard Nixon Foundation’s Architect of Peace Award.
“So close!” Colbert said, then mimicked accepting the Academy Awards version of the prize: “Ladies and gentlemen, I am honored to accept this Oscar... Mayer Wiener hot dog.”
Past honorees have included George W. Bush, Henry Kissinger, Dick Cheney and Donald Rumsfeld, all of whom have been accused of human rights abuses.
