“Daily Show” correspondent Michael Kosta on Wednesday tore apart Donald Trump’s “nakedly corrupt” demand for the Justice Department to reimburse him $230 million for defending himself against federal criminal probes and charges.Kosta joked that Deputy Attorney General Todd Blanche, Trump’s former personal attorney who could approve the big request, will “very carefully consider what color pen” he’ll use to “sign the check over” to the president. He proceeded to air a clip showing how Trump “can’t seem to believe” his “luck” on the matter.“It’s awfully strange to make a decision where I’m paying myself,” said Trump in remarks from the Oval Office.Kosta quipped, “It seems like even Trump is suspicious of how easy this is. This must be how those thieves at the Louvre felt. ‘So, all I need is a ladder?’”Later in the monologue, Kosta pointed to Trump’s claims that he’d give any money he receives from the DOJ to charity.“I know what you’re thinking, Trump is just going to donate the money to his own charity, well, jokes on you because that charity was dissolved by court order in 2018 after misusing money for his personal benefit,” Kosta noted.“I bet you feel like an asshole!”Watch more of Kosta’s Wednesday monologue on “The Daily Show.”Close
